Holiday Survival Update!

Well the end of the year is nigh and we at Nerdy Goth Says what have survived fairly unscathed. Like all true consumers, I was bombarded with prettily wrapped
packages labeled From Mom or From Santa. My boys somehow managed to pick out the exact bathroom spa set had been eyeballing all on their own. HM got a shiny new cell phone to replace the dilapidated old Sony Walkman phone he had inherited from me. Mom got us new towels to remind that I am adult now LOL. HM bought me a Doom Shroom Painting from an artist we know. But Dad was the blue ribbon winner on the gift giving front. 1) he bought me a digital tablet to work on the strip with and 2) he built a replica of a shelf he had built for me when I was a child. A shelf that withstood the test of time and served me well until my ex-husband stole it. That had actually been the result of a conspiracy between my parents and HM. I had told HM about the shelf, he called Dad, and Mom found a picture of the original shelf for Dad to rebuild from. It was revealed to me the minute we arrived at Mom and Dad's after the 4 and a half hour drive. The kids were hustled out of the house in pajamas and coats so that HM could lift the garage and show me my lovingly crafted and hand painted gift.

Not gonna lie. I almost cried.

The other thing I got to do over Christmas was bitter sweet. I got to visit my grandmother for what will most likely be the last time. Her health is failing to the point now that the doctors are just going to work on making her comfortable until her time comes. But at least I got to see her one last time.

All in all it was not a horrible holiday. I have had considerably WORSE Christmases. I made it home alive and to work the next day on time. I have New Year's Eve and New Year's Day off which makes up for the over abundance of travel and work that I had to do for Christmas. I may, however, end of sleeping through those two days. Don't know. But I miss sleep. I miss it a lot.

Alright, back to work on the strip! Most of January is lined out and ready to draw/ink/scan/and color. Now I just have to crank them out! Hope everyone has had a great holiday season and continues on through to the New Year in a similar fashion!
